With pain in my heart, I’m leaving tumblr behind. I’ve been using this particular blog with great pleasure for, as it turns out, 2 years and 18 days. It’s been about the only blog I’ve kept updating regularly for an extended period of time, which is mainly thanks to tumblrs amazingly simple interface.
Alas, in an attempt to organise all my online stuffs neatly in one place I am continuing this blog under a clean wordpress install at reblog.robert-jon.nl, where my first posts will appear shortly. I don’t intend to delete this blog as there’s quite some awesome stuff on here that I might want to have a look at later.
It’s been a good ride tumblr.
Goodbye
Is het alweer tijd voor een gave @eefjedevisser video?
Ja.
Bijzondere post-it notes
Ze zijn allemaal cool maar de Tetris-variant is een absolute must-have. Tetris op de muur met je huisgenoten / geliefde!!
Sugru
Yet another piece of evidence that majoring in Industrial Design is bogus. Meet sugru. Hack everything.
You should really check out their instructions page for some great video’s on how to use sugru.
I have a pair of sunglasses, two apple power cables and an iPhone cover that could all be repaired with one black & white batch of this stuff… which is cheaper than buying a replacement for any one of the aforementioned items.
Epic win.

Lana Del Rey - Video Games
This is kinda mesmerizing and a little disturbing at the same time.
Very beautiful.

This. Is. Genius.
The next level of “mama appelsap”. Watch a music video with the sound muted. Imagine what they might be saying. (Preferably dirty.) Create a song with those lyrics. Put the audio behind the original video clip. Voilà.
The best thing is that the track, although in a completely different style than the original, is actually pretty good and fits the video perfectly.
The lyrics are smart, funny and production is professional. These guys are geniuses.

You can play if you want to.

There is much art I just don’t get. But for me, this is art.
Granted, I have a soft spot for interesting clocks. But who can resist a ginormous clock built remotely into a mountain that will wind and correct itself purely on natural forces (no electronics involved) and will never chime the same melody twice for the next 10.000 years?
Think about it. Ten thousand years. (you will live around eighty of those)
Visiting bucketlist’d.

Dayumn. Kunnen er meer mensen zo muziek gaan maken?
En misschien in the process zo sereen sexy zijn?

I don’t like choir-groups, really. Seriously, I don’t. There’s something about singing in a larger group that makes it easy to not capture an audience.
But these guys… these guys totally rocked my world. Amazing voices, great arrangement, but foremost incredibly balanced and with sublime intention.
Pulling this off on a random crowded street is hard. My hat’s off to ya.
